The Australian cricket team will look to put a disappointing start to the summer behind them when they take on India in a 3-match Twenty20 series this week. The T20 internationals, to be played in Brisbane Wednesday night, Melbourne on Friday night, and Sydney on Sunday night, will be followed by a 4-match test series starting at Adelaide Oval on December 6.

Australia Underdogs in T20 Betting

The Aussie Twenty20 team has had a poor 2018. They started off the season winning all 4 matches in the Trans-Tasman series with England and New Zealand, but have lost their last 5 games against top T20 teams, losing 1-0 to England in England in June, 3-0 to Pakistan in the UAE in October, and going down in a rain-interrupted match against South Africa on the Gold Coast last week which was decided with both sides playing 10 overs.

India, on the other hand are ranked 2nd in the ICC Twenty20 rankings, trailing only Pakistan. They have brought over a 16-man squad for this T20 series, including captain and best player Virat Kohli, who sat out the 3-0 win over the West Indies in a T20 series played at cricket grounds across India last month. India swept the Windies in all formats, winning 3-1 (plus one tie) in ODIs and 2-0 in tests.

Australia will go in series underdogs despite their home advantage, with Unibet offering 2.10 odds on the Aussies winning the series and 1.72 on India. Of the four possible series results, India 2-1 is paying 2.30, India 3-0 is paying 5.50, Australia 2-1 is paying 2.65, and Australia 3-0 is paying 8.00.

World’s Best Cricket Players on Show

This Australia-India series will feature 4 of the top 10 Twenty20 batsmen in the world and 3 of the top 10 Twenty20 bowlers in the world according to the ICC player rankings. Australia will come into the tournament with captain Aaron Finch positioned as the number 2 Twenty20 batsman and Glenn Maxwell as the number 6 T20 batsman in the world. India go in with KL Rahul ranked 4th in the world and Rohit Sharma ranked 7th.

Incredibly, Kohli, who is top of the Test and ODI batting rankings, is just 14th in the T20 rankings, due partly to being rested in many games. Australia’s Billy Stanlake and Andrew Tye are ranked 9th and 10th in the world T20 bowling rankings, and India’s Yuzvendra Chahal is ranked 4th.

For game one at The Gabba, Neds is offering the following odds on Australian top run scorer: Aaron Finch, 3.75, Chris Lynn, 4.25, Glenn Maxwell, 4.75, D’Arcy Short, 5.50. And they’re offering these odds for India top run scorer: Virat Kohli, 3.50, Rohit Sharma, 3.75, Shikhar Dhawan, 4.25.

As for the top Aussie wicket taker in game one, Palmerbet is quoting Alex Tye, 3.40, Billy Stanlake, 4.33, and Jason Behrendoff, Nathan Coulter-Nile, and Adam Zampa all 4.50. For the Indian bowlers, they’re quoting Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav at 4.00 and Yuzvendra Chahal at 4.50.
