We’ve seen some amazing A-League action this Christmas to New Year’s holiday period, and fans can expect even more entertainment with a full round of fixtures this weekend. The match of the round features finals contenders Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix at Coopers Stadium on Saturday evening.

 

Two of A-League’s In-Form Teams

 Nothing separates these two teams, who are locked in equal fourth (subject to Melbourne City’s result mid-week), with 15 points each and a 14:13 goal differential. Adelaide have claimed a 2-2 draw with Western Sydney and 2-1 win at Newcastle during a busy holiday period. Wellington won three matches in a row – including a 3-1 win at Sydney FC – before earning a 1-1 draw at title contenders Melbourne Victory in round 10.

Adelaide won 3-1 in Wellington on November 24, conceding the first goal after just 14 minutes before equalising on half-time and winning on the back of a Ken Ilso brace in the second half.
