The ACT Brumbies and Melbourne Rebels will both be looking to move on from the disappointment of narrowly missing the Super Rugby finals last season when they meet in the season opener at Canberra’ GIO Stadium on Friday.

Brumbies, Rebels Start 2019 With Confidence

 Both the Brumbies and Rebels enter the 2019 Super Rugby Season with aspirations of knocking off the NSW Waratahs as the best team in the Australian conference.

The Brumbies have made a few changes to the team that went 7-9 last season. Their defence was strong last year, ensuring that four of their nine losses came by seven points or less. However, they’ve done nothing to address the kicking issues which saw them ranked last in the league for kick metres per game (380) and goalkicking percentage (65%).

Melbourne achieved one of the biggest coups of the pre-season with the signing of fly-half Quade Cooper from the Queensland Reds.
