India were made to sweat for victory in the Adelaide test, with the Aussie tail-enders holding out until the second session on the final day. The Second Test in Perth could be resolved more quickly, with Aussie captain Tim Paine warning his Indian counterparts that the new pitch “is going to be really fast”.

Perth Tests Yield Match Results

India’s win in Adelaide was just its sixth in 45 tests in Australia. The visitors will go in slight favourites in Perth, and they’ll be confident given their hosts are equally unfamiliar with the venue – the brand new, 60,000-seat Optus Stadium.

Optus Stadium sits across the Swan River from the WACA, which hosted all Perth tests between 1970 and 2017. The WACA was known for having one of the quickest pitches in the world, with 19 of the last 22 tests at the ground yielding a result. Australia and India played four tests there, with the hosts winning three times and the visitors once. Given the high likelihood of a result at Optus, betting the same amount on both teams could be a clever move. With Madbookie paying 2.18 for the Aussies and 2.16 for the Indians, you’d essentially be buying yourself 1.08-1.09 odds of a match result.

Batting, Bowling Betting Markets in Focus

Fast pitches are great for punters because they give us fast bowling and fast scoring. Four of the nine fastest Test centuries in history were scored at the WACA, and there were 20 six-wicket hauls at the ground. If the talk about Optus Stadium is anything to go by, we can expect more of the same from the Australian and Indian cricket teams this week.

Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli scored just 34 and 3 in Adelaide, pushing him out to 3.75 at Bet365 to score a century in Perth. For the Aussies, Usman Khuwaja is paying 5.00 to bounce back with a ton of his own. Unibet has some interesting bowling markets. Aussie pace star Mitch Starc is 6.75 to take five wickets in the first innings. India’s Jasprit Bumrah is 8.00 to achieve the same feat.
