It’s the weekend to beat all weekends for Australian sports fans with a Grand Final double header to draw the curtain on the AFL and NRL season.

On Saturday afternoon Hawthorn Hawks go head to head with Sydney Swans for the AFL title at Melbourne Cricket Ground followed on Sunday with Canterbury Bulldogs against Melbourne Storm at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

Leading Australian bookmaker IASbet is giving double winnings on both grand final matches with punters able to win up to $100 extra. Place a winning bet on the first goal scorer in the AFL grand final or on the winning try scorer in the NRL grand final and get double the winnings up to $100.

Hawthorn Hawks have been the best team in the AFL all year and are worthy favourites at $1.50 to win the final with the Swans available at $2.65 with IASbet.

Hawks captain Luke Hodge returns from illness at Tom Murphy’s expense as the only change for Saturday’s premiership decider. Murphy misses out on an AFL grand final for the second time his career after replacing Hodge in the preliminary final last weekend. Sydney keep faith with the team that comfortably beat Collingwood in Friday night’s preliminary final.

Melbourne Storm appear in the NRL grand final for the first time since being stripped of its 2007 and 2009 premiership titles for salary cap breaches in 2010. Melbourne is $1.80 favourite to beat Canterbury ($2.05), the Bulldogs are making their first grand final appearance since 2004.

Storm have a final training session tomorrow on the ANZ Stadium turf where they will make a final decision on the make-up of their side. Sisa Waqa is expected to play after he completed a full training run yesterday afternoon, the winger missed the preliminary final after injuring his knee in the warm-up.

Centre Will Chambers was on a modified training program earlier this week due to a hamstring problem, but he also completed yesterday’s training run without concern.

The Bulldogs are also expected to be at full strength, they will hold a final light session tomorrow. Josh Reynolds is reported to be fully recovered from a sore shoulder he incurred last week.
