Golf: USPGA Championship Betting Preview
August 06, 2013
The 2013 USPGA Championship takes place at Oak Hill Country Club this week and we have some betting advice ahead of the final folf major of the year.
Following a superb diplay at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational it’s no surprise to see Tiger Woods firmly at the head of the betting at odds of 5.00 with online bookmaker Sportsbet. Tiger was incredibly 15 under par at Firestone Country Club and if the American is in that sort of form at Oak Hill then it’s hard to see anyone preventing him from landing the fifteenth major golf tournament of his career.
Rory McIlroy is the defending champion, but has not looked competetive recently so is perhaps best left alone at odds of 31.00 while Adam Scott is currently tied second favourite with recent UK Open winner Phil Mickelson at 17.00.
Sportsbet have announced that they are paying six places on each-way bets on the USPGA Championship and with that in mind it could pay to focus on the pair who were tied for second at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Both Henrik Stenson and Keegan Bradley scored consistently in each round and the latter finished strongly making Sportsbet’s odds of 36.00 rather appealing for an each-way bet. Stenson comes in a little shorter at 25.00 but those odds are still worth taking in light of the six places on offer with Sportsbet who are also running an enhanced special of 11.00 for any Aussie to win the USPGA Championship.
